Purpose & Research Theme

The On-chip Award aims to support researchers worldwide engaged in droplet-based microfluidics technology or who are looking to incorporate it in the future.

The research theme focuses on developing new droplet screening methods using the On-chip Droplet Generator and Selector. Studies may involve any sample type, including microorganisms, cells, or other materials.

Eligibility

Open to science and technology researchers worldwide, regardless of research scale, affiliated with universities, research institutions, or other organizations!!

Award Details

Up to five research projects will be selected. Recipients will receive :

  1. Free use of On-chip Droplet Generator and On-chip Droplet Selector for up to one year
  2. $20,000 research subsidy upon device loan
  3. Up to $10,000 in free reagents, chips, and consumables (charges apply beyond this amount)
  4. The top-performing project will receive an additional $100,000 for device purchase.

*Supplies costing more than $10,000 will be subject to a charge.

Research Dissemination Requirement

Award recipients must share their research findings during or after the grant period through one of two methods:

  1. Publishing data obtained with On-chip products as a research paper or application note
  2. Delivering an oral presentation at a national conference or an On-chip-hosted webinar

Selection Criteria

  • Research utilizing the features of On-chip Droplet Generator or On-chip Droplet Selector
  • High feasibility and potential to contribute to droplet-microfluidics technology advancement

Program Guidelines

Application Period

August 1st to October 15, 2024

  • Submit through the online application form

  • On-chip judging team will assess submissions

  • Selected recipients notified via email a month after the application deadline
